My name is Robert (Bob).

I'm a founder member of East Ardsley Radio Society (GX3EAR)

I have only become a licenced ham in March 2020 at the age of 61, although I have been a shortwave listener for many years. I originally started listening when I worked in Oman more than 45 years ago. I then went to work in Saudi Arabia and at that time Ham radio was illegal. Taken me some time but the interest has been re-sparked.



My QTH is in Ossett, just outside the city of Wakefield in Yorkshire and unfortunately I do not have a large garden for antennas. I have a Sigma SE HF-360 on top of a 6m pole and long wire (only 15m). I am running a Icom IC-7100 mainly on digi modes.

As of the 6th September 2021, I am now a full licence holder.
