My 2nd Antenna - Knock Off Commander
Busy over the last few days 3d printing. Using an old kite/fishing pole that's about 6m long, I've knocked up some 3d printed plates and made a ground and driven plate and using some speaker wire, 4mm hardware, I've made my own knock off DX Commander (I'll call this the Right On Commander!). Obviously taking inspiration from the official DX Commander and also some inspiration from Ham Radio Dude's Hamstick Commander from YouTube. Currently only 20m as I wanted to test proof of concent but with 4 mounting points I plan to add 40m (using a coil on some pvc pipe) and 2 other bands that I haven't decided on. I may adjust the plates to a hex pattern and remake. Using the base of an old gaming chair to support. Only 8x 4m radials and getting an SWR of 1.1 - 1.5 across the 20m band. Used the cutting chart as per DX Commander user guide. Unfortunately, I can only listen at the moment on my SDR as I don't have a HF rig. I'll upgrade to some DX10 I think as per DX Commander official as the speaker wire tangles very easily.
However, I do plan on going 'legit' and purchasing a DX Commander Rapide once I have settled on a HF rig as and when funds allow.
